Goin Over SmackDown 9/27/24 Preview: Solo Sikoa Addresses Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns Teaming Up
Tonight’s episode of SmackDown comes to you live from the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The blue brand has kicked off with a bang in its first month on the USA Network. Last week, we witnessed an intense face-to-face encounter between “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes and “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, staged dramatically at the fifty-yard line of Georgia Tech’s football field. The show ended on a cliffhanger, with Kevin Owens contemplating hitting Cody with a chair—a move reminiscent of Seth Rollins’ infamous betrayal of Roman Reigns more than ten years ago. Had that moment transpired, it might have brought Cody and Roman closer ahead of their match at WWE’s Bad Blood.
Tonight, we’ll see the return of the self-proclaimed “Tribal Chief” Solo Sikoa, marking his first appearance since Cody and Roman agreed to team up. The return of Sikoa is sure to shake things up, especially as tensions build between Rhodes and Reigns.
In other action, SmackDown will feature a high-stakes match between Bayley and Naomi to determine who will face Nia Jax at Bad Blood for the WWE Women’s Championship. This number-one contender’s match was ordered by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis after last week’s controversial double pin in a tag team match. The stipulation of the original match stated that if either Naomi or Bayley had scored a pinfall against Jax or her partner Tiffany Stratton, that competitor would have earned a shot at the title. With no clear winner, Aldis declared a singles contest to settle it.
Tonight will also see Match 6 of Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes as they continuing their ongoing rivalry and Hayes tries to force a Match 7. Currently, Andrade leads the series 3-2, with his latest victory earning him a United States Championship opportunity last week. After falling short in the contest, Andrade was confronted by Hayes, who called him “washed up.” Provoking a backstage brawl, and forcing Nick Aldis to push the series to 7.
Additionally, Michin will face Piper Niven in what promises to be a hard-hitting bout. Other superstars scheduled to appear include United States Champion LA Knight, Kevin Owens, and “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, all of whom are advertised for what promises to be an unforgettable night in Oklahoma City.
