3 Exciting Matches and a Major Return Set for Next Week’s SmackDown (10/4/24)

Next week, SmackDown comes live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, promising a night filled with championship matches, returning former champions, and a rare Dumpster Match.

First on the card, The New Bloodline will defend their Tag Team Championships in a high-stakes triple threat ladder match against DIY (Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano) and The Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins). These teams have unsettled business, dating back to the September 20, 2024, episode of SmackDown, when DIY was ambushed by The New Bloodline after attempting to rescue Kevin Owens. The Street Profits replaced DIY in the match, but both teams were left battered before the night’s end. Now, all six men are set to clash in what promises to be a thrilling ladder match.

In another exciting bout, Naomi will take on Tiffany Stratton. After coming up short in this week’s number one contender’s match against Bayley, Naomi encountered Stratton backstage, where she was teased for not having a role at Bad Blood. The tension between them has led to this , adding to an already stacked Smackdown.

One of the most intriguing matches set for next week is the first Dumpster Match in WWE since 1998 WrestleMania XIV where The New Age Outlaws faced Cactus Jack & Terry Funk. This time, Meichin will step into the ring against Chelsea Green in what promises to be a very entertaining contest.

Lastly, the former WWE Champion AJ Styles is set to make his long-awaited return to SmackDown since  being MIA after falling short against Cody Rhodes earlier in the year in Scotland for the WWE Championship finally a promo aired earlier tonight, reminding fans that we are still in “the house that Styles built.” With reports earlier in the week that Styles is considering winding down his career, fans are eager to see what direction WWE will take with “The Phenomenal One” upon his return.
